Has any one seen this?

The reversable seat has plastic edge guards
at the bottom four corners of the seat cushion.

I have has the boat out for the first two solid weeks of fishing this spring and every other trip one of these edge guards ends up on the deck. It is tacked in with some very thin (cheep) looking staples.

As for a fix, I was thinking STST screws? I don't know the seat bottom material.

Can any one help?

The same thing happened to me on my '99 Montauk. The left front corner came undone and kept catching me in the leg. I cut it off with my trusty Leatherman and forgot about it. Enough said.

I have reattached mine by drilling and screwing short stainless sheet metal screws on each corner.

I had just emailed Chuck Bennett this question last week about my Montauk. Was surprised at this answer but it makes sense:

"From what I understand, these plastic corners were placed on the cushion to prevent any type of handling damage to the corners of the cushion during shipping. They should have been removed before you picked the boat up...sorry. Just pop the rest of them off for a better appearance."

I had my 99 Montauk out today for the first time this year and checked for the plastic protectors. None.

Wow, and here I was getting set to try and find replacements for mine. The plastic has broken and it is bothering my bare legs.

I too had the problem with the staples and just got some small SS screws. Now I guess I can save some money and time trying to replace them.

Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback, I guess it is not
a real problem. I have one remaining plastic
thing that will be removed in the morning.

If anyone needs some, I will have a set of
4 in my shop.
