This past weekend I was having a hard time removing the pinstripe from the sides of my revenge 21. A neighbor told me that he used Easy-Off oven cleaner on his Vette with very good results. It turned my boat yellow! How can I remove this stain without ruining my gelcoat?

You did WHAT? Maybe you can trailer it to Death Valley and bake it off! Acetone would have been the way to go! It's too late now. You can try and buff it out then re-wax. In the meantime, you better get back to your neighbor big time! Are you sure he didn't have a Chevette?

You used "lemon scent" did'nt you?

EZ-off is great for removing paint, not decals. Try some muriatic acid or Marykate's On/Off to get the yellow out.

I have just about had it with the cookie and pizza jokes. I srubbed the stains with muratic acid compounded and rewaxed the entire side of the boat and got 99% of the discoloration out. By the way, lemon fresh easy off wont even budge those stuck stripes

That is why I asked. It is not as strong and will stain. I used E-Z off on my 21 scarab to remove a painted-on name.....worked excellent. I was told not to use lemon-scent. Try two last things. Some kind of engine degreaser like castrol gtx superclean, bleach, or acetone.

Next time use mineral spirits to break down old glue on fiberglass. "3-in-one" oil works well also.

anyone try gum-off? works great for stickers on car windows.. My little girl has an artistic streak. Comes in a little yellow can like lighter fluid comes in. You can get it at H.depot.
