In every ones opinions or experiences would putting a t-top on a montauk be bogus or an ok idea. I was just curious to see if any one had tried this. I was looking at the new 2003 montauks on the whaler website and it seems like the console is up too far in the boat for a t-top. I like them and think it is a nice feature. I dont really want to get too much bigger than the montauk but i love the t top. Any feedback would be great.

On a newer montauk....probably an OK idea. Not a good idea, just OK. On a classic 17, BAD idea. I have a 20' Hydr-Sport vector with an alum T-Top and sunbrella canvas(not too heavy) but it manipulates the boat big-time. I would not have it without a T-Top but I wish I could drop it like a Bimini sometimes. In a decent wind it will screw up your drifts, make parking difficult. Without trim tabs it will casue a list etc. I think 20' is about the minimum for a t-top. Go with a bimini.

Go back on your posts 2 years, you'll find this topic talked about, and what bigshot says is true. Also, not enough backing under the deck to attach it to.
