I have a 1982 18' foot Outrage with the original aluminum fuel tank. Even after having the fuel tank cleaned, I continue to get alot of trash in my fuel filter (black specks) and am having bad fuel flow problems. Anybody else experience this problem? Could the tank be deteriorating after all of these years? Anybody ever replaced one? Have any ideas about cost? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Black specks? If you haven't already done so, check your fuel lines. |

Stewart, Yes it is possible that your tank has corroded out at some point. It may also be that the tank is OK but the hoses are shot and need replacement. There are several good threads about replacing the fuel tank in and Outrage. The tank itself can be had from the OEM, Florida Marine Tanks ( http:www.floridamarinetanks.com ). A new tank could be had for $200 to $400. |

Internal lines are falling apart. Could be from what they cleaned the tank with. Once they get crappy they can collapse and no or limited flow. |

Any Outrage built before 1988 did not have the alcohol resistant withdrawl lines. They should all be replaced with the new technology hoses. Do this, as suggested, before you get into the major job of replacing the tank. |
