I just repaired my transom in several areas with the West System filler. I would like to Gelcoat the entire transom area. I bought a can of gelcoat and the spray bottle. Is there any special preparation such as priming the areas that I applied filler? I was thinking of using the Spectrum, but I made quite a few repairs and I think that it would good if I gelcoated the whole transom.
Thanks,
Jeff

What kind of filler? With a filler that is based on polyester resin you should be fine, since that's what gelcoat is. With epoxy resin, I would think you'd be ok too, but check the gelcoat label.

The prep for gelocat is

-sand with 100 grit
-blow off the dust
-clean with acetone
