I have an 84' Montauk with an 84' Yamaha 70 on the back. I've got a good bit of play in my steering system (teleflex) and wondering if I can tighten up the steering and get rid of the slop?

Any advice?

A whole new Teleflex steering installation is only about $125-150.

The play could be from stretched cables or from a worn helm unit.

You should be able to adjust it at the engine. My mechanic did and took a couple of inches of play out of the steering.

I'm definately gonna get a new system put in after I take the boat out of the water for the season. I just need a temp fix for the remainder of this year.

When I do get her out for the season which Teleflex model should I pick up?
