I like to sit on the RPS at slow speeds, but it is a little low for visual clearance of the windscreen so I use a square cushion. Has anyone "shimmed up" the entire RPS assembly by 1"-1.5" using teak or Starboard? I assume I could use the same holes in the deck, just longer screws. Please comment.

Thanks

I am in the process of raising the RPS on 2 Montauks. The same seat as yours.
We made a template of the RPS legs and ordered some 1" Starboard. Placed the template on the Starboard and cut out the pieces. We are raising the seat 2" so we will need 4 pieces per seat. We then order new Stainless Steel screws that were 2" longer then the original which were 1 1/2 ". So, the new screws are 3 1/2" long.
I think this is a great height for the RPS. Not only is it more comfortable for me, but in a Montauk it also allows you to use the newer Tempo 13 Gallon tanks under the seat.

I raised the RPS using three 1' pieces of black Starboard, and also raised the console about three or four inches using four pieces of mahogony, epoxyed togeather, then epoxyed the whole unit(s), then painted them to match the floor/console area.

I liked the latter concept better, as it seems to match and look more factory. I'm going to re-do the RPS the same way over the winter.

If you want to send me your email, I'll forward some closeup photos of the console blocks.

df,
I would like to see your photos also. I am always interested in other ideas and ways of doing things.
Bye the way, commodore's email, and mine, are listed under our profiles..

Thanks,
Joe

The RPS on both of my Outrages is raised 6" on teak blocking. This way, an Igloo 72 qt, with cushion, fits underneath giving much needed storage and a spare seat if necessary.

To go with this, the consoles are raised 4".

I think it's a great detail, at least for those 5-10 and over.
