Does anybody know of a good source for used Merc parts either on line or otherwise?

Specifically I'm looking for a lower unit for a 1988 9.9hp motor.

Any help would be appreciated.

newboater,

Here are a few places to try.

www.dougrussell.com/partscatalog/collections/index.cfm?fuseaction=collectdetails&colid=09

www.marineengine.com/outboard_motors/parts/
maxrules.com/
pamlicomarine.com/parts.htm

Hope this helps.

David

If you take the word of Yamaha owners, there should be huge piles of used Mercury parts at all Mercury dealers. And there are plenty of dealers.

Newboater, Those engines are very specific to year made as to what units are compatable. I have one in the garage, give me the year/model/serial# and I will try to ascertain if it is a fit.....Dave

You can often find good deals on lower units and other parts on EBay.

Hey guys thanks for all the leads. I've been out of the office for the last couple days, or I would have responded earlier.

Dave (Drisney) the motor is a 1988 Merc 9.9h, S/N OB270686. Let me know if it's a match. I can easily e-mail you some photos of it if it will help. I looked at an earlier 10, and a 9.8, both are non-matches.

Thanks again one and all,
