I have a 91 Merc 135 OB on my recently purchased 91 Outrage 19. The Merc is a bit hard to start. I think I spent about 10 mins cranking ignition and squeezing the bulb before it finally fired up today (last time I used it was on Sunday, 6 days ago). I turned ignition key so often I was certain I'd drain battery completely. Got back home and wire brushed the tips of all spark plugs (they didn't have a lot of carbon on them but had some.) What else can I check out? Thanks.

usualy when one spends 10- min trying to start they have flooded the engine,,,see if it starts now and how long it takes,,If it is slow starting,,pull a plug and stt if it is wet (gas), you might have an extra set of new plugs standing by,,plugs should be bead blasted not wire brushed,,if no beads , use a T-shirt cotton to clean the tips

Numerous posts on primer bulbs. Merc has tech bulletin on replacements. New ones they recommend are Quicksilver with a yellow ring on it. That was my problem on my '79 90HP Merc. If your primer bulb is working you should smell some gas at the motor and bulb gets rock hard when pumped about 4 to 6 times.

jstachowiak... my primer bulb never got really hard even after 10-15 squeezes. I'll replace it. Thanks for the tip.
