One thing I thought I might attend to prior to placing the skeggard over the remaining stump of sa keg is re-painting the lower unit. I am clueles as to how to best prep the surface and what paint is best to use. Engine is an 88 Johnson 225 (white).

Go to ANY marine store and buy "johnson White" Tempo paint about $6-7 a can. Just sand and paint. You can use primer if you choose. The zinc chromate is great but do NOT put on heavy. You just want to cover the bare metal slightly. If you paint it with the zinc, it will peel. I do not use primer.
