I just bought an 11 foot, and am thinking about rigging it with a center console, that's tall enough that I can run it standing. Anyone have any experience here?

There is a picture of one riged like that on this site.
I personally thing that the boat is to small for that.

The 11 with center console on page 28 is a "sit-down" configuration. I ran it standing up several times and it was ok but steering too low for long periods. If you install a "stand-up" center console make sure you devise a very sturdy grab rail atop as holding onto steering wheel only is not a good idea! Happy Whalin'... Clark... Spruce Creek Navy

I was wondering.....what sort of power do you have on that 11? I see it is a Merc, but how many HP?
I know this sounds a little whacko, but I have a 13 with a new Johnrude 2 cyl 50. the engine weight is about the same as the '77 25 HP that's on the 11, but all the nice stuff like PT&T and alternator etc. are on the 50. I'm thinking.... mind you only thinking... about putting the 50 on the 11. your thoughts?

Cap, the Merc is a 15hp and personally I would not put a 50hp on an eleven! Happy Whalin'... Clark... SCN

I also run with a 15 and if is fine.

Sounds like fun....but a blatent waste of money. A 15' with a 50 will run fster than an 11 and a 13 due to physics.

Whoa guys......
I was just having a fantasy there! The 25 that's on the 11 now is just fine except no power T&T or alternator.... I already own the 50, and actually would fare better dollar wise to swap engines and sell the 13 with the 25, than to buy a new motor for the 11 (assuming another 25)....My problem is that I just know I wouldn'd be able to ride around without seeing what WOT would bring... come to think about it, that might be a good line for my obituary!
