I have read many suggestions on how to PERMANENTLY fasten the bow rails to the hull of my Montauk, and have decided to use the 1/2" whalerboard plugs.
My questions to any of you who have done this modification are:
Which kind of epoxy should I use to secure the plugs? (I have marine-tex, will that work?)
Which kind of gelcoat should I use to finish it?
Do I need to use a silicone product with the machine screws? if so, which kind e.t.c.
Thank you for any help.

Hi, Killswitch.

I used generic epoxy glue, the kind that comes in the dual syringe.

I used 5200 in the holes before inserting the screws.

Good luck.
