I have a small, slow, but continuous drip of 2 stroke oil coming off my engine. It is a 1987 150 Yamaha. I sat in front of the engine with the cover off for over an hour last Saturday and tried to find out where it was coming from. I ran it a while and watched, then let it set not running and I watched. I finally saw a small drip from the bottom of the plasic cover over the carbs. I removed the 10 or so #10mm bolts and took the cover off and found at the very bottom of the air intake area is a very small hole and oil would weep our of this to create the drip.

Is this oil seepage normal? Is my problem the rubber gasket on the cover in need of replacement? I snugged up the #10 bolts up good when I replaced the gasket cover but the leak persists.
Thank you for any suggestions, my rack storage people are getting irate at the leak on their cement floor.

Normal and the reason it is there. You should have a place for a hose to atatch so it can drain.

I didn't see a hose or a place for one but I wasn't looking for one either. Will look next time I get down to the boat.

Thanks Bigshot.
