The anchor light bracket on my '89 15' Sport is made up of two chrome plated mounts mounted vertically on top of one another, separated by about 2 1/2 inches. The bottom mount is a simple loop and the top has an etched, screw down type loop. It appears that it is meant to "tighten" down on the pole, but does not do so - it tightens all the way down on the threads, but the pole still is able to slide easily out.

I'm not worried about the pole coming completely out while underway, but am concerned because it has a "bend" in the top to make the anchor light flat with the horizon (compensating for the boat trim and the angle of the transom).

Is there supposed to be a rubber gasket inside this top fitting? if so, can I buy a replacement gasket, or do I need to buy a whole new assembly?

Have the same set up on my Sport. Uses a rubber o-ring. First place I'd look is hardware store or plumbing supply.

Oops. Just checked the light. Uses two o-rings. Don't know if that was original or not but it works fine.

The thing you are missing is a split plastic ring that holds the light when you tighten the nut. A couple of fat o-rings work great. I have the same set up and it works fine.

Thanks guys -I'll look into finding the proper sized rings.

It's the little things, ya know?
