I have to idle out of the inlet where I keep my boat, probably for about eight to ten minutes. Today, I primed the bulb for my 90 Ficht, motor started right up after sitting for 2 weeks, I let it idle for a few minutes and it died out. I pumped the bulb and it restarted, and stayed running, so away I went. After a few more minutes, it died again, at which point, I checked the connection, and found that the fuel adapter was not seated 100%. Great I thought, that was an easy fix, after a few more minutes, it died again, then continued to run only if I manually fed it fuel by priming the bulb. Now, very pissed, I went to West Marine, bought a new connector to the tank, and a new bulb, changed both out, and no good, it still dies out. The only two things I can think of are: The fuel pick-up in the tank is clogged or fell of (that has happened to me) or the motor sucked air and is now air locked somehow, but it did run for a few minutes when I was able to give it fuel. Or the fuel pump is shot. (the motor has about 100 hours on it)

Any ideas???

Oh, by the way, the motor has a bleeder valve coming of what I believe is the main feeder into the injectors. It is no more than a shrader valve. I tried bleeding that off, and got a small amount of gas out each time, but nothing significant.???

I wasn't sure from your desciption.....did you change the fuel line? Mine did that with a crack in fuel line. Throttle up would suck air. After that I always carried a spare hose with fittings and bulb.

Dave-

No, just the bulb and the connector. Spoke to the dealer today, said he would take a look. He said it sounded like the fuel pump may be bad (that would be good actually, because then it would be covered under warranty)

Sounds right.

I wish! spoke to the dealer, it was something electronic (fuel sender)that of coarse was NOT covered by the aftermarket warranty. I sat down and read the whole warranty book and found that it is actually a huge rip off. It excludes more things than it covers.
