I'm patching some holes with epoxy and I noticed that while sanding them down a brownish stain forms. I think it was getting overheated with the sanding. Does anyone know for sure? Is the epoxy still ok? I'm planning on putting white gel coat on top of this, so will the gel coat hide the brown stain? Thanks.

Were you sanding by hand or with an electric or air sander?

I was using both hand and electric. It could be the fiberglass turing brown... or whatever my console is made of.

Epoxy resin as it cures will tend to shift color to a yellow tint. This is more pronounced after exposure to ultraviolet radiation (sunlight).

Nevermind on this topic... I think I'm just seeing the wood underneath after the sanding.
