PLanning to do this on my 1986 this winter--based upon ideas from this site. Want to move the batteries inside and create more storage.
Anyone able to e-mail me a picture--a close-up?

I just installed two batterys and switch inside my console on my 83 outrage. I cut
the floor with a jig saw so the batterys
rest on the boat deck. the case top sticks up
about 4" into console. I see no reason to raise console for this. there is plenty of room
left for storage. gvisko

Gvisko is right...you don't want to mount the batteries to the floor of the console, but rather to the floor of the hull. BTDT on the first Montauk we owned, and the floor was not strong enough to hold one, let alone two batteries.
In our Outrage, I ended up cutting two holes. With the console raised, just the top of the battery case lids protrude into the console.
