redoing a 1980 15 sport, somone cut a drop in stern light in the top. I already have the replacement from whaler but it looks to be on diffrent sides in some of the pictures on this site. Any words of wisdom?

Wayne, I would place on starboard side(behind driver) so as to minimize the glare and maximize night vision... Clark

On my 1976 15-Sport the stern light is mounted on the port side. The wiring from the bow light exits from hull on the port side at the stern.

The location of the bow light wiring would determine which side was most appropriate for mounting the stern light.

The wiring (located under rub rail lace) can easily be rerouted to opposite side! Changing sides will require a new hole to pass wires through to inside of hull but easy to do... I usually mount my stern lights on top of engine cowling (see 11 footer on Cetacea page 28) as this gets the thing out of the way and reduces hardware clutter! Happy Whalin'... Clark.. sounds like dealers choice here. The pervious owners of this little whaler should be charged with whaler abuse. I think the light may have beeen on the starb. side as I said before someone actually cut the top of the gunnel for a cheap drop in base. I have plans of bringing her back to as close to orginal as I can and this web site has been worlds of help. Proud to be a member of the clan.
