The inner bow lifting eye on my 18' was removed to make way for the installation of a (waterline) bow towing bit. The boat was a tender in it's previous life.

I have recently seen on e-bay a kit for lifting a larger whaler, the kit says for a 22' or 25'and consists of two stainless lifting eyes which mount towards the bow through the top deck bolted underneath the rubrail.(for a picture see ebay)

I'm wondering if this type of lifting hardware could be installed on my 18'? If it can then I could lift it with davits and two spreader bars, one bow and one stern.

Any input would be great. If it will work I might go for the ones on ebay.

George I can't see how it would'nt work. You may have to drill out or fabricate a few plates, etc but I think the main "expensive" hardware should do.

You can also buy double eyes so that you can have an outer towing eye, and inner lifting eye.
