How do you keep water out of the wood fire ext box in the console of a 1984 18' Outrage? Rain that goes into the box appears to be getting into the the center console. It seems that it should drain out of the console or there should be a door on the box to keep the rain/splashes out.

For reference, the box on my 1983 Montauk has a plastic box (still trimmed in teak on the outside) and has two drain holes in the side of the console at the bottom of the box that drains the water. The consoles on the two boats appear to be the same, except for color. Since the Outrage is newer, I am surprised to see that its box is wood and the Montauk has a plastic box.
