I'm restoring an 89 22' OR. I want the boat to be "right", so I've spent a lot of time trying to find factory replacements for damaged or missing parts, including the windshield, a cooler-seal assembly, and various upholstery components. Then I discovered that many of the parts can be made locally - better and MUCH cheaper. Multicraft Plastics, for example, will manufacture an exact duplicate of the factory windshield for less than $90 - and the various dealers want $250 plus shipping or more for the same thing! I also bought all of the components for the console cooler-seat assembly for well under half of the Whaler price. I guess the moral of the story is this: Just because we own Whalers doesn't necessarily mean we ALWAYS have to bend over the desk and take our medicine from the dealer.
