I am replacing my Teleflex steering cable on my Nauset. The cable and helm ate the pactory installed orignals controlling a 1970 Johnson 85. Some questions:

1. I want to keep my existing helm if at all possible. Should the SSC-62 cable be a direct replacement?

2.At the point the cable joins the motor, the attachment hardware has a bit of play in it. Can I buy just the worn peices, or do I have to by the whole kit for $100.

Thanks!
Rodger

Should read:

I have a cable if you are interested that was just a couple of years old that came out of my 1972 Montauk. I changed out the helm to a new helm so I have a 16' cable left over. Let me know if you are interested. The cable is in new condition, never even hit the water as the boat was in storage for 10 years before I took it over.

Tully: If Rwill isn't interested, I would be. Have a '69 Nauset, with original cable, which is getting a bit long in the tooth. Please let me know if still available.
