I started a thread in the OEM section, figured I'd try it here too. I have an 87' 15' Sport CC in great shape overall. The bow chock/running light casting is losing it's chrome in peeling flakes, corroding with a blue-green verdigris. Is it hideously expensive to have this re-chromed, or is an exact aftermarket replacement available for less? Oddly, the only other pieces on the boat with similar corrosion are the stanchions that support the tall rear running light post. Is this chromed bronze also?

Yes, those parts are chrome plated bronze. Rechroming is an option but not an inexpensive one. The parts are not available as aftermarket parts, you must buy the OEM ones from a Whaler dealer if you want them. You should price out the new parts and get a quote on rechroming the ones you have and then decide which way to go.

One place to have the parts rechromed via mail is Graves Plating:

Also check your local yellow pages for "plating" and get a quote from any local shops you may have in your area.

Plating is expensive, but I've found Annapolis Plating (in Annapolis Maryland) offers reasonable pricing and often offers free shipping during "Boat Show Specials". They do a lot of marine work. Price examples on their website include:
Transom Exhaust 4" $45
Bow Chock 6" $25
Yacht Cleat 6" $25
Morring Bit 6" $80
Winches 6" $95
Deck Plate 4" $40
Prices Will Vary With Other Sizes
