I don't know if Awlgrip comes in a standard desert tan....probably not.

However, here's what I did when needing some paint:

Trailered the boat to a professional automotive paint wholesaler/distributer. The kind that supplies the paint shops in the area. Had them "shoot" the boat with a portable analyzer and had some custom Concept 2000 epoxy mixed.

Perfect match.....

They were a Concept 2000 shop, you might find one in your area if your sold on Awlgrip.

Let us here on the forum know of your results.

It can be mixed to match your color, just about any body shop could to it for you and help you with what you need to get. Just like I had Imron mixed to match the blue inside of my Montauk, it came out great.

Good Luck

Whaler used to use Imron to paint some metal components to match the desrt tan color. They may have a matching color available.

Any good AWL-GRIP dealer with an AWL-MIX system could match it or have a sample sent to the lab and they'll provide a formula. The only catch is the sample, in the past I've had gelcoat from prior repairs by the owner to use as the "color standard". The suggestion of getting some Imron matched by a paint shop is probably the easiest.

Good luck,
Tom

I repainted my with Awlgrip and used Oyster White. This seemed to be a very close match to the original color.

I'm with Stagalv on the oyster white -- however, I was attempting to match colors with a 69 hull. Oyster white did a pretty good job.

Why not buy a Spectrum patch kit in desert tan, smear it on a piece of plywood and send it to whoever Paint Legend suggests for a color match. I'd be suprised if they haven't already mixed that color a few dozen times before...
