I will be installing a Bobís Machine jack plate, manual 5Ē on my 78 Montauk. I picked this up on ebay. Has anyone used this jackplate on their Montauk. I have read concerns on this forum about it covering the drains on the splash well (after I bid in it of course). Is this true? Does anyone have suggestions for the setup with this jackplate and have pictures of the set up? The motor is a 100 GT 1991 Johnson. Thanks Archie

It should work fine. If it covers up the drain for the splash well then a small drill hole in the jack plate with work. If it done not then a bobs manual jackplate can be had for $200.00. I dont think you should drill anything never in the transom. Alot of people here have great jackplate experience and ideas.

I have a Bob's Jackplate. 2/3 inch. Had the 5" and changed it ouy because the setback was too much for the 03 Honda 90 on my 84 Montauk.

Anyhow, jackplate only covers a couple mm s of the drain holes.

I have a Bob's that I purchased from a forum member. He had drilled different mounting holes in the plates to make it clear the scuppers. Unfortunately I can't get at the boat to refresh myself on demensions. However, it's fairly simple, and you'll be able to see for yourself when you get the unit. The change in your ride will amaze you.
