I have an '89 15' SS and would like to put a kicker on it. My previous boat, a 13' SS, had an area on the transon to mount the kicker. Unfortunately, the 15 doesn't appear to have the same transom. Have any of you put a kicker bracket on a 15'. If so, what brand did you use? Does BW make a kicker bracket specifically for this boat?

Yes, Whaler made a special kicker bracket just for the 15. I am unsure if it still available.

Basically it bolted to the center part of the transom (the flat part with plywood in it) and was offset to port by way of aluminum brackets that held the plywood pad the kicker was actually clamped to.

Dan, The factory bracket from BW is no longer available. Like Tom said, it is an offset design to allow bolting to an area of transom that has embedded wood. You will find a BW drawing of the part in the reference section of this site - but unfortunately the drawing has no dimensions. Last year I fabricated a similar looking bracket for my 15 using welded 1/4" aluminum plate. Will send photos and dimensioned drawings if you want to fabricate one yourself.

Skookum Point,

I'd really like to see your drawings and photos if possible.

I looked in the manual and they showed a fairly plain kicker bracket... nothing too fancy. Looks quite a bit different than what Tom described.
