O.K. guys uncovered my boat for new season and started to trim motor and the battery was so low it barely moved the motor, so I took battery out of my 13' whaler and installed it. When I turned the key on (before starting) my alarm horn went off (1991 Johnson 150hp Fast Strike) any suggestions as to what might be the cause for this? Motor started right up and ran well. Motor only has about 350 hrs. Also I always get trash in my fuel filter, so i was thinking about cleaning or replacing the tank. Question,,what is my original tank made of? I think it is aluminum, but if it is why do i see what looks like fine particles of rust? If I replace it where is a good place to get a tank to fit back in its place with all the same connections? I would like to just clean it if that is feasible. Thanks

A couple months ago, I posted a similar problem for my 1978 20' outrage (I had water and brown rust particles showing up in my water separation filter). My gas tank is aluminum. The feedback I got was that the rust and water probably came from a gas station. So far, that appears to be the case. I filtered out what I could, and not much has shown up since. -- mag
