Another link looking for a Montauk console got me going on this.

My 17 bare hull was outfitted by the previous owner with a custom console from who knows where. I will eventually replace with OEM console, as I'm trying to turn her into a "real" Montauk.

Other links say that the loaded console from the dealer comes at more than twice the price of a blank console (~$600 for the blank). What is it exactly that is in the loaded console that ups the price that much? Here's a preliminary checklist:

-rod holders/cushions
-doors, panels, trim

How much trim, if any, comes with the bare console? At some point (probably not until Fall) I want to find a complete replacement and work on installing over next winter. I have no original pieces or accessories to transfer, and would need to furnish a bare console. Is it more economical to purchase the loaded one, or to purchase the bare one and load it?

A similar thread was posted regarding RPS's and Tom Clark broke down the cost of purchasing and building individual pieces of an RPS seperately vs. purchasing a dealer's RPS. The two came out comparably. I would like to see what people know comes "standard" with a loaded console, and what, if any, are the prices on the accessories.

Perhaps this is this info on the CDRom?

I can't give you any info on a blank console but would suspect that it is just that, blank.

A complete console will include doors, steering, windshield and rail, everything except gauges and engine control. The Whaler part number is 500-05034 and the 2000 suggested list price was $2,170.00 plus shipping.

A blank Guardian 17 console with windshield and SS grabrail was about $1200 or a little less delivered. Blank meaning no holes drilled. When ordered together, the windshield and grabrail would be shipped mounted. I almost ordered one, but the inset on the aft port where the molded fire extinguisher holder goes intferes with my battery placement. The full width storage with sliding plexi is kinda neat.
I did not price a blank Montauk console.

Yes, you will find a description of what the console has by looking at the price list for a model that comes with the standard console like the Montauk.

The standard console does not include:

Rod holders or cushion pads.
Engine controls or gauges

It does include:

Access doors, dash panels and locks
Fire extinguisher pocket
Plexiglass windscreen
Grab rail
Helm and steering wheel
Prewired switch/fuse panel

I ordered one. It cost about $1,800 about two years ago. Tom is right, but I would add to Tom's list. Mine also included the steering cable, two cup holders, the base mounting brackets and cover pieces, and they must have just thrown in the sump cover out of habit.
