I am going to install a standard horizon gps chartplotter in my BW Conquest 23. Can anyone let me know the proper way to wire the power to the unit.

Thanks so much......Paul

Red=postive Black = Negative
So a black wire from the GPS should go to a common negative bus bar and a red wire should go to a common positive bus bar readily identifiable under/behind your console. (one should have a fairly stout red wire the other a fairly stout black wire. Personally I'd use ring terminal crimp-ons and heat shrink tubing. When mounting a chart plotter/FF I used an accessory rocker switch also. While it is not required as the unit has an on/off button, I preferred this method. I believe Whaler builds boats with positive (red) already supplied to the rocker switches. So if you want to use a rocker switch then you would still run the black wire to the common negative buss and the red to an upper position on the rocker switch.

More important, where/how are you going to mount the unit?
