Looking for some information and advice for sealing(epoxy)and painting my older (65-66)17'BW.It,s flipped over and most of the bottom is stripped down to the glass.Had to make some repairs to the cline and hind corner on one side were it rubbed on the dock,I used West Marine products.I,m going to replace the drain tubes also.Any advice on prep or products would be appreciated. |

Chris, you have come to the right place, you have found where to look for information on this topic. Begin your search at the website's search engine: http://continuouswave.com/htdig/ I am not familiar with West Marine brands of epoxy. Perhaps you meant to say WEST Systems epoxy, an excellent brand of epoxy which has been developed and used for 25 years in marine applications. I recommend following their directions. They have an excellent website that reproduces their many instructional pamplets, which they also sell in printed form for a modest $3 charge. |

Chris: The one thing that deserves mention, even though West will remind you, is to remove the amine blush before you paint. This is really critical to getting good adhesion, regardless of whether you are using paint, another epoxy, or gelcoat. Good luck. |
