what is best way to clean and polish rails

I use muriatic acid to clean the rusty bases, then neverdull the rest.

You can also go after them with heavy duty rubbing compound before you use a metal compound.

Hell I've wetsanded mine with 1000 grit then polish but don't want people bitchin they scratched the snot out of their new railings:)

My problem is keeping them clean. After compound, then flitz or mother's the rails look great, but after one trip into the salt, they are all splotchy again. I even tried waxing the rails after the metal polish with no luck.
Anyone have a secret to share?

After you get them clean make sure you rinse the saltwater off them when you're done. Then dry them off with a towel. It doesn't take long and they stay looking good longer.

I like to do thing once if at all possible. Polishing and repolishing gets old. Waxes do not work..as you know.
Once you get the rails clean and polished, Glisten PC Clearcoat will keep them like new, for years. Make sure you use Marine Clean before clear coating to remove any residue from the polishes.
