Andy: Thought I recalled that you used an epoxy other than West on your kayak. Thought you mentioned that it does not suffer the same fate as West with respect to the need to remove blush. Did I remember this properly or is my early alzheimer's acting up again? If the former, could you please share the name of the product, a possible source? Thanks, in advance. |

I used MAS brand epoxy, which does not have amine blush using the slow cure hardener. It also gives you a lot of pot time and is easy to work with, but takes about 24 hours to cure. It takes longer if it's colder than 70 degrees. I purchased mine from Chesapeake Light Craft, who now puts their own label on MAS epoxy products. Their prices were very competetive when I bought from them a few years ago. Here's a few links: http://www.clcboats.com/materials.php3?cart_id=CREATE http://www.masepoxies.com/index.htm |

[Changed TOPIC; was "Andy Gere: Alternative Epoxy Name?" The forum is starting to read like a "Personals" column in a weekly newspaper!] :-) |

The WEST SYSTEM epoxy can be modified by use of different components to obtain longer cure times and also to reduce amine blush. You just have to mix it up with the correct resin and hardener combination to produce the desired result. |

Andy: Thanks. But contrary to Jim's apprehension, I won't ask for a date. Jim: Next post will be: "jimh: please name my post" :-) |
