Would cedar be good for bunks? I was thinking of using 4x4 cedar, but now I'm wondering if it would handle the strain. Thanks, |

Cedar gets bone dry and is prone split, crack and warp when exposed t'the elements. Stick to best-grade pressure treated pine. |

I just replaced the bunks on one of my trailers but before I did I ordered some other parts from Trail-Rite trailers and asked them what lumber they used on their bunks. They told me all they use is "Green" Fir... Not treated nor coated in any way. They said the Green Fir will bend to the shape of the hull and then remain there. |

At least cypress won't rot in fresh water. But where do you find cypress 2x4 and 2x6 stock? |

My magic Tilt trailer was hit from behind. I had to replace one bunk. I ordered it from the local magic tilt dealer. The bunk is cypress and they sell them in diffrent lenghts. |

Thanks, for the tips. I need to get the new bunks put together this weekend, so the cypress is not an option. I wish I'd checked earlier. I think I'll go with the green pine and replace them when it becomes necessary. Thanks, |
