I am starting from scratch. Nothing in place. So what do I need to get? stripped bare 17' commerical with 50 Suzuki new it has all cables. Battery what type? Panel type? Switches?? Location of battery? If some one could lay out a plan with best bang for the buck recommended products it would be a big help.

If you want t'keep it simple, you could probably wire everything off a block at the rear of the hull, either on one of the batteries itself, or using the block and box Whaler equipped all of their hulls with. That's inside the typically brown box located usually on the port aft corner up near the gunwale. Most 18'2 seem t'have a larger white box in the aft sta'board corner. If you've got a console or plans t'add one, then hot wire a block inside there by running big (#6 or larger) leads off the [batteries] and up through the tunnel. Woise come t'woise, your trollin' motor guy or a good boat mechanic will do the job professional and shouldn't charge you much. All can be done in less than a day's labor by someone knows what they's about.

Hawaiian Bob - You need to first specify the equipment, accessories and guages (engine monitoring) that you want. Then, you can draw a one line electrical sketch or your circuits which will tell you what instrument and switch panels you need. ---- Jerry/Idaho
