i have a new 15.5 ft whaler supersport. i would like to put a ski pylon on it. i e-mailed whaler they said that it is not designed or reinforced for it. my question is waht are my options? would the ski pylon type that runs cable from the bow to the pylon and then has cable support off the pylon work, as then it puts not near as much stress on just the pylon mounted etc. i would appreciate any insight, thanks

A ski pylon is not recommended for the 15' hull for safety reasons as well as the fact that the hull is not designed or reinforced for it. The pylon creates a capsizng risk.

For those of us considering something less than a 6' pylon, I have always wondered why everyone says the "pylon creates a capsizing risk"? The Mischief used the same hull and came equipped with a short pylon. The photos I've seen show the top of the pylon extending approximately 20" above the height of the motor mounting on the transom.

My personal belief is that a minimal pylon would be reasonable to affix to the floor with tie rods back to the transom. Similar to the "Swivel-eze Pro".

I have to agree with Peter that a Ski Nautique style 6' pylon would be a capsizing hazard. A tower would also be a capsizing hazard...
