My 1971 Nauset has an after market replacement seat. It is a Todd cooler seat with a flip back. It was installed by the previous owner, but the boat has not been used since the install. The base of the seat is narrower than the original and some of the fasteners lineup outside the strip of embedded wood. I have posted other queries relating to this and I greatly appreciate the information I have received. I have a new query:

"What type of aftermarket seat have you used on a 16'/17', how did you fasten it and how successful was the modification?Specifically, have any of you used an iglo cooler w/ their standard mounting hardware as a pilot seat, and if so how did it work out ?"

Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

I took my heavy todd seat out last year and made an updated version of a bench back seat at about 1/3 the weight. Sent you pics on this. Very easy, very inexpensive, looks preety good.
