Help boys!
I have read up a lot since discovering this site a month ago. I now have my whaler stripped of all wood, hardware ( including steering cables and all pulley mounts..everything!)
I have bored out nearly every puncture and grinded open a lot of my hard rail's face because of significant damage and rust stains that indicate through cracks on the underside of the lip of the rail.
I need to know if the blue liner is gel coat and will re-applying gel coat matched to the blue take care of even spooky looking cracks so long as it seems like some integrity is still there?
Should I just spray the whole interior of the hull with blue gel coat to match and move on or is that blue just paint- I forget?!
Regarding the underside- should I sand to gel coat green- patch problems if found and then re-spray with white gel coat and then bottom paint and is there any reason (besides my desire to keep the boat's original look)not to paint the bottom white after I re-gel coat it? ( Say with that awl grip bottom paint)(Gep's hull looks so good!)
Lastly- can anyone tell me how to post digital pics using a mac? I can take pictures tonight, but I'm not sure how to post them or create a link to show them.
I would like to because I don't think many people take on the rail as I have and it should be seen- even if it is to show "what not to do to your whaler" if I have screwed up- at least it will help the next guy.
Thanks all as usual.

mg guy,
I am totally cornfused! Esplain dis.

I have bored out nearly every puncture and grinded open a lot of my hard rail's face because of significant damage and rust stains that indicate through cracks on the underside of the lip of the rail.

What year and model are we talking about?
The blue could be gel coat or paint, don't know? Could have been painted. I would not try to gel coat an entire boat! Paint, yes.

The green is not gel coat, that is the fiberglass matting. If it is not disturbed recoat with Spectrum gel coat. If it is ragged or gouged repair with a glass filler then gel coat.
Do a search for the last 6 months or a year.

Lastly, why did you buy a Mac?

Welcome to the club, Jim Armstrong
