'82 OMC has slots for lower mount bolts that are below bottom of splash well. Lag bolts in this position or use the threaded blind holes that line up with the original OMC holes in the transom?

What size/pitch bolts fit the threaded blind holes?

Use a setback or jack plate, Gene.

No new holes in the transom, no lag bolts.

JB, are you using that rig on a 16'7"?

Yes, Gene.

I have a 2001 Suzuki DF70 on my '80 Montauk with a 4" setback plate. Looks much better than I expected and performs like a 70 isn't supposed to perform.

Will use blind threads. Common 1/2 13 stainless bolts fit. Suggest clean up on threads w die to minimize damage to threads in the eng mt.

I used the blind holes on an Evinrude 70 w/ the std. mtg. bolts on a '65 16'. Beautiful.

Make a template out of cardboard to line it up for pre-drilling the holes. You need to be right-on otherwise it may become a mess. Coarse 1/2in Stainless. 3 1/2in should do or 4in. Use large stainless bumper washers on the inset and some Sikaflex to seal. Steve
