From reports given here, it appears that corrosion and damage to the brass drain tubes in the hulls is quite common in Boston Whaler boats that are left in the water, particularly in salt water.Damage to the gel coat layer which permits the laminate structure of the boat to come into contact with water, especially when such damage is below the waterline and even worse when below the running waterline, should be repaired immediately in order to avoid intrusion of water into the interior of the Unibond hull.
There are several articles in the REFERENCE section about how to make repairs. Therefore I will not attempt to explain the process of repair but instead refer you to these articles.
If you take no action your hull will tend to absorb water. It is very difficult to remove water from a Unibond hull once it has gained entrance. It is far easier to prevent its entry in the first place by making timely repair to any damage.
