I have converted my seat seat mount on the Montauk to hold a 94 quart Igloo to use as a fish box. The fish box works great but the screws on the seat mount are coming out of the floor. Has anyone had the screws come out of the floor on their montauk? Does anyone have a solution for this?

I have a 1975 Montauk...All screws in fiberglass were loose loose.

Solution...Remove screw, fill with wood glue and/or contact cement insert wood dowel (chopsticks work)(suggest tight fit with tapered end on point of entry)...Let glue set...drill guide hole and replace screw.

As long as the screw hole will be covered by the fitting it is attaching, you can drill it out to about 3/8" and pack and fill the enlarged hole with white Marine-Tex epoxy paste, the re-drill for self tapping screws. Your problems will be over permanently. Marine Tex works well because it not only will prevent moisture from getting to the wood floor backing, but bonds well to both the glass and the plywood.
