I would like to add a casting deck to my 1967 13.

#1 Flyfishing
#2 Weight distribution (I am replacing the engine with a heavier one)

Was wondering if anyone has pictures or experience with such a project. Ideally it would be removable and without any channels (flyline).

Thinking I could build a mahogany platform that replaced the forward wooden bench, and sat on those rails then extended to be flush with the existing platform/bow locker (rather than rest on top of the bow locker) There would be some support blocks underneath as well as the battery and gas tanks.

Question is how could I make this as flush as possible so the flyline does not get pinched between the platform and the hull?

Thanks in advance.]

No pics...You might consider Mahogany Plywood with a thin foam or neoprene backer directly over the seat and bow. Along the edges, you could use a simple gasket designed for tub/shower application stapled/glued in place to meet the edges when in place...just a thought! Weight should not be an issue as the moment is quite large from that point in the boat.
