Does anyone know if there are a cheaper alternative for the two front seats that whaler offers at $200. Preferably something available at a West Marine or a Boat US. If so your suggestions are appreciated.

My Newport came with this mahogany slated seat and back. Then I just added seat and back cushions from Target's lawn and garden dept. for lawn chairs that tie on. Maybe this will give you some ideas.

Just remve the seats and have a cushion made for the front and back. I had it on my 84 Newport and it looked factory and more comfortable.

Most original looking I found were "Saltwater Centric" from Attwood. About $90 each from Bass pro shops. The fabric is good looking enough and matches the original closely enough that I'm buying some from Attwood to recover the RPS.

Folks--

I went through this project this Spring.

I looked up Todd Mfg. seats on the Boat/US site. Seat Model 200 was special ordered without brackets, but with the cushion set.

Cost was under $15, for (2) seats and (2) cushions, with shipping to New Hampshire!

Tricky part was making a template to locate holes in console front porch. I ended up tracing the bottoms of the seats, flipping the cardboard over and marking the holes. Worked like a charm as the seats come with SS inserts located in the bottom.

Friends thought that the Todds looked better than OEM rigs, but weren't sure about the solid white upholstery. I may rebuild them with tan fabric and black piping to match the rest of my 1975 Newport.

Anybody want pics, drop me a line!

Best,

Brant

Folks--

FINALLY made it back to NH after long time in NYC. No, not caught by the Blackout, beat it out of town just 20 hours before it occurred!

At any rate, just got back from a long weekend at the Lake and I FINALLY have pics of the replacement seats that I installed in my 1975 Newport.

Any interest, just drop me a line an I can send pics and details!

Best,

Brant
