Does any one here know how much Weight a 72' Outrage 21' can hold on the the transom? ( 225 EFI Fourstroke * 583lbs.*, or 200 Optimax * 431lbs.* By adding a 5" Jackplate Will that put more pressure on the transom with it being offset and in the up position under power? Do I need to worry about that stuff? Thanks for any input.

The Jackplate would be for lifting my motor at top speed and slow speed in the flat waters of the West Coast, FL, besides I think there cool just to beable to lift my Merc up. Why else! :) |

I would put a 150 Merc EFI on that, with jackplate, and she will "scream and fly". If you must have clean technology, get the 175 Optimax, which weighs a lot less than the 200 Optimax. Forget that huge 4-stroke. If all out speed is your objective, the 2.5 lter Merc 200 EFI will do the trick. And now, you can get one in 3.0 liter form, 20" shaft only, a detuned 225 EFI, but not sure the old Outrage could handle the speed. |
