Does any one here know how much Weight a 72' Outrage 21' can hold on the the transom? ( 225 EFI Fourstroke * 583lbs.*, or 200 Optimax * 431lbs.* By adding a 5" Jackplate Will that put more pressure on the transom with it being offset and in the up position under power? Do I need to worry about that stuff? Thanks for any input.

Uh....yes. I would not pu a 200 or 225 4 stroke on that.

The Jackplate would be for lifting my motor at top speed and slow speed in the flat waters of the West Coast, FL, besides I think there cool just to beable to lift my Merc up. Why else! :)

I would put a 150 Merc EFI on that, with jackplate, and she will "scream and fly". If you must have clean technology, get the 175 Optimax, which weighs a lot less than the 200 Optimax. Forget that huge 4-stroke. If all out speed is your objective, the 2.5 lter Merc 200 EFI will do the trick. And now, you can get one in 3.0 liter form, 20" shaft only, a detuned 225 EFI, but not sure the old Outrage could handle the speed.
