I've got a 79 evinrude 35 hp. I've got the dash mounted key switch. I removed the switch to stain and varnish, but i did write down what went where. Of course I can't find the paper. It says on the switch push in for full choke. It has the letters c, s, m, b, m, and a. The a is not used. The five wires from the engine I've traced and know whats what. I don't know where to screw them to on the switch. Thanks in advance for any help.

The red wire goes to B (battery). The yellow wire goes to S (switch or solenoid). C is for choke and may be gray, purple with a white tracer or brown. M is for Magneto (even though you have electronic ignition). Usually one is black with a yellow tracer, the other may be the same or just black. A is for accessory. You can run your guage lights, fuel guage, volt meter, etc off this terminal. It is only active when the key is turned to the "on" position. If you post your wire colors I can confirm these cyphers. These are the wires I've got. Red ,black, yellow with red, purple with white, and black with yellow. From what you gave me the only question is the black wire and the black with yellow. Thanks for the help Steve. Russ |

Russ, the black wire goes to one of the "m" terminals. The black and yellow goes to the other "m". This is your shut-off circuit and grounds the magneto or in your case the powerpack. Steve |
