My gage is stuck on the "FULL" mark.
Should I try to clean it or replace it?
And if I replace it can anyone recomend a source?

Thanks!

-Paul

With the little info you wrote, I will assume that you have the style with the gauge on top of the tank???? If you do the first thing to buy is that little disc that has the gauge. Tempo makes the one thay I have. Anybody who carries tempo stuff should be able to order it for you, if they dont carry it.

I had the same problem with my 18' Outrage 3 weeks ago...dial read full and never moved.

First step...remove the dial that is stuck on full by removing the 2 screws.

Then try to get the guage to move by placing a magnet behind it. A magnet from the fridge works fine.

If the guage moves the problem is likely with the float on your mechanical guage.

I bet the dial or spring has simply failed.

If that is the case the exact dial can be ordered from www.e-components.net for about $12.00 with shipping and handling if I recall.

Good luck let me know but I bet it is just your guage.

Can anyone confirm the correct part number or description for the fuel guage dial ?
There seems to be several varieties made by Rochester; SR, JR etc.
Thanks, jim

yes smallfry, the dial no-51792 is likely the correct Rochester guage for your boat. 804 462 5679 phone. However, if your boat is out of the water you may wish to take the gauge off then take off the cover and pull the mechanical arm out. When I started this process I heard a clunk and the arm fell back into place. For some odd reason ( perhaps too heavy pounding of the waves) my float actually got stuck in a top postion and instead of needing a new gauge, I needed to shake loose the mechanical arm. It has worked fine ever since this "repair".

Be mindful of gas vapor. I disconnected the battery and worked in a well vented area.

Thanks John, My dial was corroded to near nothing. I could not distingwish the original size or markings; so, could not describe the dial needed to the customer service folks.
I'll order a new one tomorrow
Jim
