I am new at this so please excuse my ignorance.... I have a 1984 22" Outrage. You know the little trap door in the starbord stern that has all the wiring going into it and I guess a bilge pump as well(?)It also has a fitting for a fuel separator that I had installed. Mine has rotted and my question is whether or not I need to replace it?
Thanks,
Eric

Point of clarification:
The hatch (a.k.a. "trap door") has rotted?

Generally, this hatch serves a cosmetic function, although keeping UV away from the equipment and wiring is an important secondary function.

If you wish to replace this hatch with a low-maintenance alternative to wood, consider using some Starboard or similar material - if the old hatch is still substantial enough, it may serve as an excellent template for fabricating a new one.

Yes , it is the hatch that has rotted. Thanks for the advice. Is there suppose to be a standard pump in there as well?
