I am thinking about replacing the leaning post on my 1984 22' Outrage with two captains chairs. Current system has room for ice chest for storage inside/underneath so I would e giving up some storage. Anyone done this before? Pros/Cons? Thanks, Eric

I would be interested in the leaning post. I only have a single chair and the post would be nice in my boat. |

The leaning post is better for rough riding for extented periods. The chairs are nice for cruising. |

Stick with the leaning post. It's more functional and gives the boat better resale value. |

In the original hierarchy of seating options, the two swivel captain chairs were the standard installation. A leaning post was an option, and the reversible pilot seat an even more expensive option. |

It would seem the RPS would serve both purposes. Comfortable seating while cruising, and with the back flipped forward, a decent leaning post. |

Shrimp is right, and when used in leaning post mode, the RPS can still seat 2 passengers facing aft. I raised mine up on some teak risers, and store a 72 qt. Igloo underneath. |
