What is it made of... teak or mahogany? And what is the white material in between the boards that give it that yacht look?

I want to clean it up but don't know where to start.

I have one and it is teak. I don't know what the white stuff is but I would like to. It seems to be too neat to be caulk.

I also have a 71, what you want is a Polysulfide caulk - sealant. I purchased what I needed from Boat U.S. It isn,t affected by teak cleaners, and you can easily wipe off any fresh teak oil. I found a window glazer who did a great job at touching up my caulk.

What is the best way to restore the console, the raised wood platfrom and the anchor locker cover? Are all three teak?

I plan on staining the console and anchor locker cover. Both have polysulfide caulk between the seams that give it a yacht like appearance.

See page 36 for a picture of the wood appointments I am working on.

Question is.... The caulk was in bad shape on the anchor locker cover. I have removed it. Do I stain and varnish and then apply the caulk or do I caulk first? I am leaning toward caulking as the last step. Bad idea? What do you all think?

I guess I'll caulk last.....
