Pretty simple you need a console, side mount controls, and a steering system.

Get the shortest cable teleflex makes....I think 8'. Console is up to you, may be some plans on the site or look on e-bay frequently.

Fina,

I'm doing the same conversion right now on my 11', I had an old console, but built a new one. I'll see if I can take some pics for you. I'll try to get the cable lengths too tonight. I think the steering cable is even shorter than 8'. I'll make sure though and let you know tomorrow.

I'm having an issue right now with getting the steering to fit right. (see my post).

Good luck!

Someone was selling a nice console on ebay a few weeks ago, they show up a lot.

Kevin, what did you use as a pattern for your console?

fina,

What year is the hull?

If the hull an older one, (like mine) you'll only need one bench seat. Some time in the early 90's the 11foot hull changed and it had a more "open" transom. The newer one's had the drive sitting on a bench seat, and also has a bench in the middle. On the older 11's the driver is on the fiberglass seat.

fina,

I had the original console, but it wasn't in very good shape, so I used it as a template, but raised the top a little and sloped it back so that water will roll off the top and also the steering wheel is at a better angle. (The old bezel for the cable/pully steering was a comfortable almost 45 degree angle, and teleflex only offers a bezel that's something like 15 or 20 degrees, so the sloping top of the console fixes that.)

I have the 1988 11 with only the front seat. I used angle irons and built a center to fit on the back side of it. That way I still have the seat and can sit or stand to run the boat. My back seat is all glass that makes it nice to stand and fish off of. The area is big enough to have the wheel, controls and a 240 blue garmin that I can use on this boat or my 22 outrage. I have a new evinrude 9.9 and with one person 16 mph. but with to guys it is much slower. I would like to have a 20 then. but the lakes here 9.9 is all they will take. and thats is ok for the back water in fl. I would say just play with the design and make it to fit you.

Fina,

How's the conversion going? I was able to check on the cable length this weekend. it's definitely a 6' steering cable that I have, but it's too long to use with the stand off bracket. Another option I've been thinking about is to use an 7 or 8' steering cable and putting a loop into it. This should give you plenty of play to get the length right.

Good luck.

I want to change an 11ft tender [2000 model] to a sport with console. I found a console but now I need to get steering and shift and throttle cable for a 15hp 1998 johnson this engine has the manual shifter on the front and only a tiller control for the throttle Any one knows of any work arounds or available attachements.

This is the link I just found to the Teleflex mechanical steering bible has 59 pages with all info you'll ever need about any steering.
