Cedar Lake Manufacturing can make you one, Clovis. A perfect replica, if you are very patient. If you do a search you can find drawings from which to make one yourself, or. . . They show up on Ebay from time to time. Good luck. Red sky at night. . . JB |

clovis,I am doing a 1966 Sakonnet but have the original console and RPS which I have removed, dissasembled and am using for patterns. There are drawings of a lot of the wooden parts at http://www.sisqtel.net/~jkriz/drawings/drawings.html If you can work with wood I understand you can save about two grand by doing it yourself. a friend of mine could likely make one for you in a reasonable amount of time, and with superb quality. He's an expert woodworker with 30+ yrs experience who regularly works on big yachts (40-100 ft). I have seen alot of his work first hand (including my boat), and can attest that his work is absolutely exemplary. He could provide pieces unfinished or finished. According to the varnish sales rep, his wife does the best varnish work in all of the Pacific Northwest (at least). We're talking a quality that meets and likely exceeds OEM standards. He could provide an unfinished console within 60 days, and a finished console within 75 days, and it could be shipped anywhere. Let me know if you're interested.

thanks Shrimp burito. What would the cost be just for the console and would it meet original specs? |

Yes, it would be built to OEM specs. I've sent you an email regarding prices. |

If I am not mistaken you can get a consol with front seat option including windshield w/o glass, unfinished for $990.00 and $1,190 finished from cedar lakes. add on shipping, @ 4 months lead time and you have a very high quality consol. As an avid woodworker I know this to be an excellent price that will be hard to beat in any market. 3/4" marine grade ply of ribbon striped mahogany runs $300+ per sheet and you need more than one sheet for the consol alone. Nice mahogany will run you about $5.00 a board foot rough sawn. Unless you can do the work your self at a level that matches Cedar Lake you should be well served by using a group that knows wooden whaler parts. I have never purchased from Gil and have no propriatary interest in his company, but I know his prices for consols, pilot seats, stern seats and hatch covers for the Nauset/Sakonet boat models to be fair, for the materials involved he has an excellent price point. I understand from others his work is first class. |
